Smith & Wollensky
What better way to celebrate wine in Vegas than Smith & Wollensky?s National Wine Week. The classic steakhouse celebrates 25 years of their Wine Week. Each day from March 5 ? 9, Smith & Wollensky offers a selection of 10 wines for $10 with a lunch purchase.
?We have tons of great values here to begin with, but for Wine Week we have a special menu we?re going to do this year ? a three-course menu that includes wine for $50,? says Stuart Roy, national director of wine & spirits at Smith & Wollensky.
The three-course prix fixe meal consists of options like Wollensky?s famous split pea soup, dry-aged sirloin carpaccio, a beef tenderloin duo and lobster BLT sandwich, paired with 10 wines for $50. Wines and Champagne being served include Veuve Clicquot, Elk Cove, Faust, Rodney Strong and Smith & Wollensky?s own brand of wine.
As for Roy, he sometimes puts the cart before the horse, but as an advanced sommelier, that arrangement works out just fine.
?When I?m pairing wine with food, I usually select the wine and then I try to match it. . .I usually go with what I?d like to drink and then I pick my food. I do it a little backwards,? says Roy.
If you can?t make it for National Wine Week, don?t worry. Smith & Wollensky?s offers? a good deal on wine every day of the week.
?I think Smith & Wollensky?s is a good value for tourists anyways. If you look at the prices up and down the Strip? Our wines? by the glass ? we pour a fourth of a bottle instead of a fifth or a sixth,? says Roy.
